Private Capital Industry Overview

The Private Capital Industry consists of two distinct capital domains; the Exempt Securities Market (Exempt Market) and the Private Lending Market. The Exempt Market is comprised of a network of specialized investment dealerships (EMD’s) who facilitate the buying and selling of private debt or private equity-backed securities.

The Private Lending Market is made up a population of alternative (non – bank) lenders who specialize in non – traditional debt transactions. Like the traditional capital markets, the Private Capital Industry channels the wealth of savers to those who can put it to long-term productive use. The general focus of this industry centers around providing “alternative” capital sources to mid market companies within Canada who have unique financing needs that traditional funding sources do not have the ability to address.
